Hollywood Laser Peel Toronto: What It Does and What It Costs

A Hollywood laser peel is a carbon laser facial: we apply a thin layer of carbon lotion, then pass a laser over it to lift the carbon away along with surface oil and dull skin. Most people leave with brighter skin and pores that look tighter, and a little pinkness that usually settles within a few hours. At SSKN Firm in Toronto, the Hollywood glow laser peel is $300.

It got the name because people book it before events and photos. That’s still the main reason we see it on the calendar, especially in the weeks before a wedding or the holidays. It’s also a good fit if your skin is oily, a little congested or has some light sun damage.

What happens during a Hollywood laser peel?

It’s quick. Most appointments are done in under an hour, start to finish.

  1. Skin check. We look at your skin type and any pigment, and ask about recent sun or treatments.
  2. Cleanse. Makeup and oil off.
  3. Carbon lotion. A thin black layer goes on and is left to settle into the pores. You’ll look like you’ve had a charcoal mask, briefly.
  4. First laser pass. Gentle warming to the skin.
  5. Second laser pass. The laser breaks up the carbon. You’ll hear small snapping sounds and feel a light prickle.
  6. Soothe and protect. A calming serum and sunscreen.

Most people say it feels warm and tingly, not sore. If you’re nervous, tell us. We’ll talk you through each step.

What results can you expect from a laser peel in Toronto?

After one session, most people notice:

  • Skin that looks brighter and more even
  • Pores that look smaller and cleaner
  • Less shine through the day
  • A smoother base for makeup

For ongoing oiliness, breakouts or light sun spots, a series of three to five sessions about a month apart usually does more than one on its own. Results and side effects vary from person to person.

Is it right for pigmentation and sun damage?

For light, scattered sun damage, it can help as part of a plan. For more defined spots, or a lot of summer damage on your cheeks and chest, we often suggest something more targeted. Here’s how our laser facials compare:

  • Hollywood glow laser peel, $300. Brightness, pores and oil. Popular before events.
  • Pigment Perfect, $250. For darker spots and uneven tone.
  • EvenTone IPL photofacial, $250. For sun spots and redness. Not for everyone, so we check your skin first.
  • Acne carbon peel, $250. A carbon peel aimed at oily, breakout-prone skin.
  • Bye to Melasma, $199. A gentler approach for melasma, which reacts badly to too much heat. We wrote more about melasma treatment in Toronto.

You’ll find all of these, with booking links, on our laser page.

How long before an event should you book?

We like three to seven days. That gives any pinkness time to go and lets your skin settle. If it’s your first laser treatment, book two to three weeks ahead so you have a buffer.

A simple plan for a June wedding:

  • April: first session, so you know how your skin reacts
  • May: second session
  • Week of the wedding: final session three to seven days before

Who it suits, and who should wait

Usually a good match if you:

  • Have oily or combination skin, or larger-looking pores
  • Want a fresh look before an event with minimal downtime
  • Have mild, scattered sun damage

Hold off, or tell us first, if you:

  • Have a tan, a sunburn or just got back from somewhere hot
  • Have melasma. A different plan is usually better
  • Have active cold sores, a rash or broken skin
  • Use a prescription retinoid or acne medication
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding

What should you do before and after?

Before: avoid tanning and self-tanner for two weeks, and stop retinol and exfoliating acids for a few days.

After: skip heavy makeup for the rest of the day if you can, keep skin hydrated, and wear sunscreen daily. You can go back to work. Most people do.

Can you pair it with other treatments?

Yes, with sensible spacing. Some clients alternate a laser peel with a Hydrafacial month to month. Others save the laser peel for big dates and keep a regular facial through our SSKN Society membership. We’ll suggest a rhythm that suits your skin and your calendar.
