Hydrafacial Toronto: What Happens, Results and How Often

A Hydrafacial is a 45-minute facial that cleans, exfoliates, clears out your pores and hydrates your skin in one visit. Most people look brighter and smoother the same day, with minimal downtime, and come back about once a month to keep it that way. At SSKN Firm on Bloor West, a Hydrafacial is $199.

We get asked about it more than almost anything else on our facial menu. Usually by someone who’s heard a friend rave about it and wants to know if it’s worth it. Here’s what really happens in the room, what you’ll notice after, and how often it makes sense to come in.

What is a Hydrafacial?

It’s a facial done with a handheld device. The tip spins water and serums across your skin while light suction lifts out what’s sitting in your pores. So it exfoliates, extracts and hydrates in one pass, instead of three separate steps with three different tools.

The part people like most is the extractions. There’s no squeezing. You don’t leave with red marks around your nose, which is why a lot of our clients book one on a lunch break and go straight back to work.

What happens during a Hydrafacial in Toronto?

Here’s how a visit at our Hydrafacial clinic in Toronto usually goes:

  1. We look at your skin first. Your medical aesthetician asks what you use at home, what’s bothering you and whether anything’s flared up lately. That decides which add-ons, if any, make sense.
  2. Cleanse and exfoliate. A gentle resurfacing step takes off dull surface skin.
  3. A mild acid step. This loosens what’s stuck in your pores. It doesn’t sting the way a strong peel does.
  4. Extractions. The suction tip clears blackheads and buildup. We’ll show you the canister after if you’re curious. Most people are.
  5. Serums. Antioxidants and hyaluronic acid go back in once your skin is clean enough to take them.

The whole thing takes about 45 minutes. Some people fall asleep.

What results can you expect?

Right after, most people notice:

  • Brighter skin that looks more even
  • Pores that look cleaner and smaller
  • Softer texture, so makeup sits better
  • More comfortable skin, which matters a lot by February in Toronto

One treatment is a good reset before an event. If you’re dealing with ongoing congestion or rough texture, a series spaced about a month apart usually does more. Results and side effects vary from person to person, which is why we start with that skin check every time.

How often should you get a Hydrafacial?

For most skin, once a month works well. That’s roughly how long your skin takes to renew itself. But it depends on what you’re after:

  • A wedding, photos or a big night: one visit, one to three days before.
  • Keeping your skin looking good: monthly.
  • Breakout-prone or congested skin: a series of 3 to 6, then monthly.
  • Seasonal: once as the heating comes on in November, again in spring.

Packages bring the cost down: 3 sessions are $550 and 6 are $850. If you know you’ll come monthly, our SSKN Society Facial Edition membership is $129 a month plus HST and lets you choose a different facial each time.

Which Hydrafacial should you book?

We keep the options short:

  • Hydrafacial, $199. Start here if you’ve never had one.
  • With dermaplaning, $225. Also takes off fine facial hair. Good if your foundation tends to look patchy.
  • With lymphatic drainage, $275. For puffiness, especially if you wake up looking swollen.
  • Hydration and acne facial, $350. A deeper clean for skin that breaks out.

Not sure? Book the standard one. We’ll tell you at the skin check if something else would suit you better.

Hydrafacial or another facial?

They do different jobs. A Hydrafacial is for clean, hydrated, glowing skin with little recovery. A classic facial, like our SSKN 101, is slower and more hands-on, but manual extractions can leave you a bit pink for a few hours. You’ll find both on our facials menu.

Microneedling is the one to look at for acne scarring, texture and fine lines. Expect two or three days of redness. We wrote a full guide to microneedling in Toronto if you’re weighing the two.

Plenty of our clients do both: a Hydrafacial most months, and a round of microneedling or PRP once or twice a year.

Who it suits, and who should wait

It’s usually a good fit if you:

  • Have dull, dry or tired-looking skin
  • Get blackheads or the odd breakout
  • Want to look fresh for an event without recovery time
  • Are new to clinic treatments and want something gentle to start

Hold off, or tell us first, if you:

  • Have a rash, open sores, sunburn or a cold sore
  • Had a strong peel, laser or facial waxing in the last week or so
  • Use a prescription retinoid or acne medication
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding, so we can plan the right facial

Before and after your appointment

Stop exfoliating acids and retinol two or three days before, and skip facial waxing. Come in with clean skin if you can. If you’re coming from work in full makeup, that’s fine, we’ll take it off.

After, try to leave makeup off for the rest of the day and skip the gym or sauna until tomorrow. Wear sunscreen every day after that. Yes, even in a Toronto winter.

Where to get a Hydrafacial in Toronto

SSKN Firm is a nurse-led clinic with medical director oversight, and our facials are done by medical aestheticians. You can meet the team before you book.

Common questions

How long does a Hydrafacial take?

About 45 minutes. Add-ons like dermaplaning or lymphatic drainage add a little time.

Does a Hydrafacial hurt?

Most people find it relaxing. The extraction step feels like light suction, and numbing isn’t usually needed.

Can I wear makeup after?

You can, but most people skip it for the rest of the day. Your skin looks fresh and it’s a good chance to let it breathe.

How much is a Hydrafacial at SSKN Firm?

It’s $199 for one treatment or $550 for three, before HST. Prices match our booking page.

How soon before an event should I book?

One to three days before works well for most people, since there’s minimal downtime and the glow shows the same day.

Hydrafacial or microneedling?

A Hydrafacial is for clean, hydrated skin with little recovery. Microneedling is for texture, scarring and fine lines, with a few days of redness.
